Christmas Trees

Christmas trees for the festive season 2023 – If you  need a very large one , please order in advance!

We look forward to seeing all our regular customers again in 2023. We only supply Grade `A` trees , and hope to see  many new customers this year! If you have any special requests for trees , either quantity or size , please email your requirements in advance , and I will deliver direct! The order for trees is usually placed at the beginning of October every year, so please let me know your requirements before then!

There are two main varieties of christmas tree: Norwegian Spruce and Nordmann.

( sometimes called Danish Blue ).

The Norwegian Spruce is the traditional Tree , with needles , and the Nordmann has the thicker, waxier ends to the branches  and is often referred to as `non-drop`.  I sell both types of tree, but the following text refers to the Norwegian Spruce, which can grow in slightly warmer climates. My suppliers are based in Holland.

Christmas trees’ cultivation processes we have to carry out are described as shown below.

1. Planting of young small trees
The first step concerns the planting of young Christmas trees.

Before these trees can be
planted, the earth/field has to be pre-treated and fertilized.

2. Maintenance of trees
After the Christmas trees have been planted, they have to be maintained. The trees are sprayed (vermin suppression), fertilized and frequently checked on lice. christmas trees sussex hoveThe field is also regularly grubbed so that the weed disappears.

3. Mark and dig up
As from the summer we receive many orders for Christmas trees. At this point trees have to be marked for customers. After this is done, the trees can be prepared for synchronised delivery.

4. Transportation After the trees are ready for transport, they are loaded in a truck by means of conveyers.sussex christmas trees hove conservatory The transport can either be organized by the customer or by us.

5. Timescale
The  trees on sale at The Conservatory in Hove , were still in the ground during November!

Nordmanns prefer a colder growing climate ,so these come from forests in Scandinavia.

My Dutch suppliers have had a long working relationship with growers in Denmark , so I buy my Nordmanns through them as well ; safe in the knowledge that they are all top quality, and have been cut as late as possible to ensure best quality.  As you can appreciate , with the many millions of households in Europe all requiring trees , it is a logistical nightmare to supply everyone at the same time. Consequently , many trees have already been cut by other suppliers, and are sitting on trailers in depots as early as September!

If you need a large tree ( over 3 metres ), please contact me now and order it , as I need to ensure I have enough. Also , if you would like to order your smaller tree , please reply by email , and I can organise delivery. The trees are of superior quality to last throughout the festive season.
